Parent Communication
Initial Reach OutInitially reaching out to parents I will send home a disclosure document on the first day of class with their students. This document will tell them about me and will explain the purpose and projects or the course while also asking parents for contact information and if their student has allergies. Once I have received those back I will introduce myself to parents via emails while also giving them the first update of our class and their student. In this email I will tell them about my class website with a link for when students are absent or when they need to make up work.

Throughout the Year or Term |
Parents can always use my website to contact me and ask questions. They can also always email or call. I may also use the website to further reach out to them asking for volunteers. I am hoping to write at least two parent newsletters a term so parents know what's happening in the classroom. I also Have postcards that I send home to the families when the student has done something exceptional or has made a lot of improvement.

Parent Contact as a Consequence |
.Parent contact is used in the classroom as a last resort kind of deal before going to the principal or assigning the student in school suspension or detention. For me the severity of each situation will be different and therefore parents should not expect me to be calling the for discipline very often. When contact is made my expectation is that there will be communication between parent and student about how we all as a team need to help the student fix their behavior before it gets out of hand.
If parents have any questions they contact me below. |
